Three Things to do Before Getting a Spray Tan

By Joey Patton of Bronze-Beauty

Few things can inspire confidence like a sexy tan. Because of this, nearly everyone wants to show off a bronze glow, whether they’re at the beach in Cabo or posing for their wedding photos.

As opposed to a traditional sun tan, a spray tan provides a healthy alternative that will leave your skin glowing and free of any damage from harmful UVA and UVB light. And in addition to the health benefits of choosing a spray tan over a sun tan, a mobile spray tan offers fast, convenient results that can’t be achieved anywhere else!

While organic spray tanning is truly the best option when it comes to tanning, there are a few things to keep in mind before getting the tan. Below, please find three helpful tips that Bronze-Beauty has put together as you prepare for your mobile spray tan.

1. Save the Best for Last

If you are getting an organic spray tan in addition to other treatments, be sure to get the spray tan done last. Whether you are getting a massage, wax, haircut, manicure or pedicure, you should always get these types of services done first. Having these performed after your spray tan can seriously alter the look you had right after the tan.

The spray tan is supposed to be the final touch, the last procedure that covers your entire body. With that being the case, any change you make to what has already been covered by the spray tan will look inconsistent with every other tanned area. For example, if you wax your hair after already receiving the spray tan, the wax will remove not only the hair, but also the bronze coloring from the tan. So, to avoid this type of inconsistency, always be sure to make your spray tan the last of your appointments.

2. Make sure to exfoliate!

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells from the body, and it is an absolutely crucial component of the spray tanning process. By removing the dry, dead skin cells that sit on top of your skin, you allow the lively cells underneath to surface and make the most of your spray tan’s glow.

When exfoliating, be sure to focus on the driest areas of the skin. This usually includes the elbows, knees, hands and feet. Give these spots a bit of extra attention when prepping before your spray tan.

Exfoliating the day of your mobile spray tan is optimal, but make sure you give yourself a little window beforehand. Ideally, you’ll be exfoliated and ready to go at least four hours prior to your scheduled tan.

3. Moisturize religiously in the days leading up to your spray tan

You want to make sure your skin is healthy and hydrated as you head into your spray tan. If your skin is dry, it will flake off and take the bronze with it. So, in the days leading up to your appointment, be sure to moisturize your body thoroughly.

DO NOT, however, moisturize after your last shower before the tan. If lotion is on your skin during your spray tan, however, it will serve as a barrier and the mist will not stick as well. If you follow these three steps before receiving your spray tan, you should be ready to glow like never before.
